28th Annual River to Sea Bike Ride
April 22, 2017
The 28th Annual River to Sea Bicycle Ride will take place on Saturday April 22, 2017. Participants will meet at Bailey’s Park at the 100 block of North Front Street in downtown Wilmington. Participants will depart Bailey’s Park promptly at 8AM. The ride, which is a slow-paced casual 20-mile round trip ride along the former Beach Car Line and back, will reach Wrightsville Beach Park at about 9:15AM. The ride is open to cyclists of all skill levels. For safety reasons, late arrivals will not be able to join the ride. Helmets are mandatory and riding is mostly on-road in mixed traffic. Transportation will be provided by WAVE Transit for those who would rather not bike from Wrightsville Beach back to downtown Wilmington. Light refreshments will be available at Wrightsville Beach and upon return in downtown Wilmington. Click here for additional information.

2017 Carolina Beach Street Arts Festival
May 20, 2017 from 10AM - 4PM
This festival is a celebration of the arts with a mission to provide, free to the public, the highest quality arts in many forms. The Festival’s objective is to increase appreciation, support and sales of art by involving the public in the creative process through demonstrations, hands-on-programs and access to art in different media. The Festival has three themes – Visual art, Performing art, and Culinary art, with a “main event” that involves selected artists and is interactive with the public. West Marine Carolina Cup
April 19-23, 2017
The 2017 West Marine Carolina Cup presented by SurfTech kicks off the race season with 5 courses: a kids race, the Harbor Island Recreational “fun” race, Money Island open race, 6 man outrigger race on Sunday and the renowned Graveyard Elite Race. This is our seventh year. In 2012, the Carolina Cup was the largest race on the East Coast with over 400 paddlers competing in the first day of races. In 2013, we had over 600. In 2014, there were over 700. The 2015 event was one of the most competitive events on record and also deemed the largest SUP event in the world. In 2016, the West Marine Carolina Cup grew even more attracting thousands of paddlers to Wrightsville Beach to come together on the East Coast. Registration for the 2017 Carolina Cup is now open, so register today!

NC Aquarium's 5K Race For the Planet
April 23, 2017
The 5K Race for the Planet welcomes racers of all skill levels. Serious runners take advantage of the flat course for a fast pace. First-timers appreciate the on-course encouragement. The fun, no-pressure atmosphere make it a great choice for families and walkers. The seaside portions of the course offer sweeping views of the Atlantic ocean for all. Our goal for this race is to plant the seed for eco-conscious living and raise funds for the Aquarium’s educational programs and green initiatives.The 5K Race for the Planet starts and ends at the Aquarium. The flat, mostly asphalt course runs through scenic Fort Fisher with amazing views of the ocean, maritime forest and historic Fort Fisher Civil War site. Click here for additional information.

The Wilmington Jewish Film Festival
April 23 - May 9, 2017
The Wilmington Jewish Film Festival, in association with The United Jewish Appeal of Wilmington, presents the 4th Annual Wilmington Jewish Film Festival, 3 by 3. Commencing April 23, 2017 the festival will offer nine award-winning feature films and selected shorts over three weeks, three per week, April 23 to 25, May 2 to 4 and May 7 to 9. All showings will be in historic Thalian Hall Main Stage. As in past years, the festival dates coincide with Holocaust Memorial Day and Israeli Independence Day, which enables us to fulfill our educational and entertainment mission. We are also organizing a spring outreach program for tenth graders in Wilmington. Our dream of exposing young people to fine international films with Jewish themes is becoming a reality. EyeCon One Tree Hill
May 5 - 7, 2017
The EyeCon One Tree Hill 6 event is returning to our roots in Wilmington, NC where we started it all! In 2014, two fans started an online petition for us to add a One Tree Hill convention to our list of themes. The response was overwhelming so we decided to take the leap of faith, bringing the first US OTH convention to life. We love this fandom. You have been very kind to us. Rims on the River Car Show
May 19-21, 2017
Rims on the River is an annual event that takes place this year on May 19-21, 2017. The show is in Downtown Wilmington, North Carolina. Cars dating 1980 and older line the streets of the historic downtown area, with the Cape Fear River and the diverse collection of retail stores as their backdrop. This event has grown into a premier show, drawing a wide array of cars from the entire southeast region of the state, as well as a few neighboring states, totaling approximately 700 vehicles on display in past years! USA Wrestling Beach Wrestling Events
May 19-20, 2017
Beach Nationals will once again be held in Carolina Beach, North Carolina. Beach wrestling was introduced as an international style by UWW, the international governing body for wrestling, as another avenue for athletic competition. Beach Wrestling (or sand wrestling) has been a consistent style of wrestling internationally for centuries. Combining elements of all wrestling styles, including sumo, Beach events have drawn walk-up crowds when partnered with other sporting events, helping expand the reach of wrestling through non-traditional venues. 24th Annual Seaside Soccer Classic
May 20-21, 2017
Welcome to the 24th Annual Seaside Soccer Classic! A great time of year to come to Wilmington, the Seaside Classic hosts over 300 teams annually and consistently sells out. Teams are strongly encouraged to register early to avoid disappointment, as the number of teams is limited. Teams travel from all over North Carolina, as well as South Carolina and Virginia.
