Summer Fireworks by the Sea and Boardwalk Gazebo Music
Every Thursday, Beginning Memorial Day Weekend - September
Pleasure Island Summers 'officially' begin when the weekly fireworks kick off on Memorial Day Weekend. Then every Thursday, the beach strand on Pleasure Island lights up with weekly firewoks! The best place to view this weekly spectaular show is on the beach strand located in front of the Courtyard by Marriott or on the historic Carolina Beach Boardwalk, where there is music at the Gazebo stage for your enjoyment. So 'pack up' the family and head to the Boardwalk in Carolina Beach. The music starts at 6:30PM followed by the fireworks at 9PM.  Follow Facebook for weather delays, changes and updates.

Pistons, Plugs & Shocks Car Show
July 16, 2016
Join us at Poplar Grove Plantation Saturday, July 16, 2016, from 9AM – 4PM for the HWY 17 Pistons, Plugs & Shocks Car Show under the shady trees of Poplar Grove. The grounds will be lined with classic cars representing each decade of the ingenuity of design and technology. Who were you sitting next to in that Ford Mustang or Volkswagon Beetle circa 1974? Come see what all that fuss was about – cruising the beaches and Main Streets of Anytown, USA, pulling into your favorite drive-in for cheeseburgers and Cherry Cokes. Did the family pack up the wagon and head west to see the Grand Canyon or Yellowstone National Park, or was it a weekend of air-conditioning and a swimming pool at a Howard Johnson’s along the Ocean Highway? Spend the day reminiscing with us and admiring what more than a few car enthusiasts love about their machines! Click here for additional information.

InsideOTH
July 23 - 24, 2016
Here is your chance to go Inside OTH with Cast and Crew of the series, in the city where it was filmed. Since One Tree Hill went off the air in 2012, there has never been a fan convention like this one - because it is being brought to you by some of the people who really lived...Inside OTH! We are Wilmington based crew members who worked on the show for many years and we love the show, too. On July 23 and 24, 2016, we will be bringing you face to face with your favorite stars from the show - in the town where it all happened: Wilmington, NC! There will be autograph sessions, photo ops, Q&A, opportunities to see original props and set pieces from the show, meet and greets and more! Click here for additional information.

Port City RibFest
August 5-7, 2016
The first two Port City RibFests were held at the USS North Carolina Battleship Memorial where they drew large crowds. Last year the RibFest moved across the Cape Fear River into downtown and the party continued. The RibFest's formula for success is simple, it's all about great BBQ, cool music and zany fun. Champion pitmasters from around the country bring their talents to satisfy the hunger of thousands of BBQ lovers. The variety of rib styles includeKansas City,Texas, Memphis, Chicago and St.Louis. The range of BBQ styles alone is enough to make our festival unique but it's our reputation of showcasing original music fom around the country along with, shall we say, unorthodox, entertainment acts that make us The Nation's Most Unique BBQ Festival. Some may think that sword swallowers, fire dancers, luchadores and pirates don't belong at a BBQ festival. We humbly disagree. Click here for additional information.
