North Carolina Azalea Festival

The North Carolina Azalea Festival is Wilmington’s annual community celebration and the largest festival of its kind in the state. Founded in 1948, the Azalea Festival has emerged as Wilmington’s premier event. Each April, a full week of natural beauty, big-name entertainment, festive galas, fun family events and Southern hospitality come together to showcase the charms of the Wilmington area. For community pride and springtime pageantry, the North Carolina Azalea Festival has no equal! The Festival’s concerts, fairs and special events are viewed by more than one million people each year, in person and through media coverage. More than 200,000 are estimated to attend the annual two-day Street Fair, while more than 100,000 gather to watch the Festival Parade. Each event is a celebration, beginning with the traditional arrival of Queen Azalea at the official opening of the five-day event. West Marine Carolina Cup
April 18-22, 2018
The 2018 West Marine Carolina Cup presented by SurfTech kicks off the race season with 5 courses: a kids race, the Harbor Island Recreational “fun” race, Money Island open race, 6 man outrigger race on Sunday and the renowned Graveyard Elite Race. This is our seventh year. In 2012, the Carolina Cup was the largest race on the East Coast with over 400 paddlers competing in the first day of races. In 2013, we had over 600. In 2014, there were over 700. The 2015 event was one of the most competitive events on record and also deemed the largest SUP event in the world. In 2016, the West Marine Carolina Cup grew even more, attracting thousands of paddlers to Wrightsville Beach to come together on the East Coast. The Wilmington Jewish Film Festival
April 22-24, April 29 - May 1, May 5-6, 2018
The Wilmington Jewish Film Festival, in association with the Wilmington United Jewish Appeal and with the support of other community groups, is a nonprofit 501(c) (3) organization whose mission is, through the screening of excellent films with Jewish content, to promote a deeper understanding of Jewish history and contemporary Jewish culture. NC Aquarium's 5K Race For the Planet
April 22, 2018
The 5K Race for the Planet welcomes racers of all skill levels. Serious runners take advantage of the flat course for a fast pace. First-timers appreciate the on-course encouragement. The fun, no-pressure atmosphere make it a great choice for families and walkers. The seaside portions of the course offer sweeping views of the Atlantic ocean for all. Our goal for this race is to plant the seed for eco-conscious living and raise funds for the Aquarium’s educational programs and green initiatives.The 5K Race for the Planet starts and ends at the Aquarium. The flat, mostly asphalt course runs through scenic Fort Fisher with amazing views of the ocean, maritime forest and historic Fort Fisher Civil War site. Click here for additional information.

USS North Carolina Battleship Crew Reunion
April 25-28, 2018
The crew of the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA and their families return for their annual reunion. The USS NORTH CAROLINA Battleship Association is an organization of the Battleship’s crew and their families. The Association hosts an annual reunion in Wilmington with the next one scheduled for April 25 – 28, 2018. The crew and families very much look forward to their annual return to the Battleship to share stories, visit old friends and make new ones. The love they have for their ship makes a powerful bond. Carolina Beach Street Arts Festival

This festival is a celebration of the arts with a mission to provide, free to the public, the highest quality arts in many forms. The Festival’s objective is to increase appreciation, support and sales of art by involving the public in the creative process through demonstrations, hands-on-programs and access to art in different media. The Festival has three themes – Visual art, Performing art, and Culinary art, with a “main event” that involves selected artists and is interactive with the public. Cape Fear BBQ Festival at Poplar Grove

On Saturday, May 12, 2018, the Cape Fear Wildlife Foundation will be hosting a competitive BBQ Pork Butt Cook-off. The event includes a beer tent, food trucks, and music. Admission is $5.00 per person; kids 12 & under free. There will be activities for the kids, discounted house tours for those seeking a little history, and over 40 arts, crafts and gift vendors – all right here at Poplar Grove. Rims on the River Car Show
May 18-20, 2018
Welcome one and all to this year's annual Rims On The River Weekend! Festivities begin Friday May 18th, with a taste of local entertainment and fun at our various partner venues, bars and restaurants. Saturday the 19th is Car Show Day. Awards are presented at approximately 4:00, at the intersection of N. Front St. and Chestnut, in front of the Post Office. We are also bringing back last year's PIN-UP CONTEST, which was a blast! Perfectly Pinned Up will be hosting this fun event that actually helps raise funds for a non-profit! Another part of the event is the returning of the FREE CONCERT! Saturday evening following the car show and concert, will be a AFTER PARTY CONCERT held at Reggies 42nd Tavern. Sunday the 21st, we close out our weekend with a casual group cruise. 24th Annual Seaside Soccer Classic

Welcome to the 25th Annual Seaside Soccer Classic! A great time of year to come to Wilmington, the Seaside Classic hosts over 325 teams annually and consistently sells out. Teams are strongly encouraged to register early to avoid disappointment, as the number of teams is limited. Teams travel from all over North Carolina, as well as South Carolina and Virginia. Ink & Arms Expo

Ink & Arms is a tattoo lifestyle event that incorporates America's love for firearms into the programming. The 2018 Expo will feature over 80-plus tattoo artists from around the globe, 20-plus gun manufacturers as well as other unique exhibitors, including a variety of gear, clothing, and novelty vendors. Show attendees will have the opportunity to get tattooed, converse with firearm manufactures and dealers, participate in seminars and demonstrations, enjoy sideshow performances, and participate in the Ink and Arms Tattoo Contest during the weekend festivities. Friendly, knowledgeable volunteers stationed throughout the ship engage visitors in specific subjects and areas including: gunnery, radar, sick bay, galley, engineering, and daily shipboard life. Try on helmets, raise signal flags, “text” using semaphore flags, tap out your name using Morse code, type on vintage typewriters and more!
