Carolina Beach Double Sprint
June 24, 2017 at 7AM
The very first "Formula 1" or super sprint triathlon produced in the U.S. (formerly the Kure Beach Double Sprint). Competitors start out with a 375 meter ocean swim. Upon exiting the water, participants put on their running gear at the "Beach Transition Area" and run 1.5 miles to the "Bike Transition Area". Participants then complete a 20K bike ride on a closed course (no traffic). Then it's back on with the running gear for the 1.5 mile run back to the "Beach Transition Area". Participants complete the race by once again swimming the 375 meter course. Click here for additional information about this Wilmington race.

East Coast Got-Em-On Classic King Mackerel Tournament
July 7 - 9, 2017
The East Coast Got-Em-On Classic King Mackerel Tournament is Got-Em-On's oldest and biggest fundraiser. It was actually formed from the combination of two separate tournaments. The first was the East Coast Open, with a grueling three day format, held each May starting in 1980. It was hosted by the Carolina Beach and Kure Beach Fire Departments. The second, The Got-Em-On Classic hosted by the club and held every July since 1981, was the first King Tournament to have a Lady Angler prize and a bidding Calcutta (TWT). Celebrate Flag Day at the USS North Carolina
June 14, 2017 from 10AM - 2PM
Fly your own flag at the Battleship on Flag Day! American Legion Post 10 Honor Guard assists visitors in hoisting and folding their flags. Makes a great video keepsake and family heirloom. Provide your name and email and a certificate of authenticity will be mailed to you. Visitors can bring a flag or purchase a 3 x 5 foot American-made nylon flag with embroidered stars from the Ship’s Store for $39.95 plus tax. Sales from the store benefit the Battleship. July 7 - 9, 2017
The East Coast Got-Em-On Classic King Mackerel Tournament is Got-Em-On's oldest and biggest fundraiser. It was actually formed from the combination of two separate tournaments. The first was the East Coast Open, with a grueling three day format, held each May starting in 1980 (66 boats entered the first one): it was hosted by the Carolina Beach and Kure Beach Fire Departments. The second, The Got-Em-On Classic hosted by the club and held every July since 1981, was the first King Tournament to have a Lady Angler prize and a bidding Calcutta (TWT). Due to the increase in entries, the last bidding Calcutta was in 1983 with 88 boats. Committee members from both tournaments met in 1985 and decided that instead of competing for the same guarantors and sponsors, they would merge! Pleasure Island's Summer 'officially' begins when the weekly fireworks kick off on Memorial Day Weekend. Then every Thursday, the beach strand on Pleasure Island lights up with weekly fireworks! The best place to view this weekly spectacular show is on the beach strand located in front of the Courtyard by Marriott or on the historic Carolina Beach Boardwalk, where there is music at the Gazebo stage for your enjoyment. So 'pack up' the family and head to the Boardwalk in Carolina Beach. The music starts at 6:30 followed by the fireworks at 9:00. Follow Facebook for weather delays, changes and updates.
