Carolina Beach Double Sprint
June 23, 2018 at 7AM
The very first "Formula 1" or super sprint triathlon produced in the U.S. (formerly the Kure Beach Double Sprint). Competitors start out with a 375 meter ocean swim. Upon exiting the water, participants put on their running gear at the "Beach Transition Area" and run 1.5 miles to the "Bike Transition Area". Participants then complete a 20K bike ride on a closed course (no traffic). Then it's back on with the running gear for the 1.5 mile run back to the "Beach Transition Area". Participants complete the race by once again swimming the 375 meter course. Click here for additional information about this Wilmington race.

East Coast Got-Em-On Classic King Mackerel Tournament
July 13-15, 2018
The East Coast Got-Em-On King Mackerel Classic Tournament is Got-Em-On's oldest and biggest fundraiser. Tournament dates are scheduled for July 13-15, 2018. The Captains Meeting will take place July 13th, Scales Open at 2PM on July 14th, Scales Open at Noon on July 15th and the Awards Ceremony will be at 7PM on July 15th. Summer Fireworks By The Sea and Boardwalk Gazebo Music

Pleasure Island Summers 'officially' begin when the weekly fireworks kick off on Memorial Day Weekend. Then every Thursday, the beach strand on Pleasure Island lights up with weekly fireworks! The best place to view this weekly spectacular show is on the beach strand located in front of the Courtyard by Marriott or on the historic Carolina Beach Boardwalk, where there is music at the Gazebo stage for your enjoyment. DINOSAURS! at North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher

The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial - LIVE on the Battleship North Carolina
June 29 - July 15, 2018
The Caine Mutiny Court - Martial LIVE on the deck of the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA! The Pulitzer Prize-winning novel about a court martial has been adapted by the author into a suspenseful evening of theatre. A young lieutenant relieves his captain of command during a typhoon because the captain, Queeg is a psychopath in crisis and commanded the ship and its crew to destruction. Naval tradition is against him, but testimony eventually reveals a devastating picture of Queen’s mental disintegration. Special July 4th performance at 7PM followed by the fireworks at 9PM. Tri-Span 5k & 10k

Run the oldest 3-bridge 10K on the east coast! This event benefits the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA which is a 12 week health and wellness program designed for cancer survivors that is free and open to the community. The 10k course runs over the Memorial Bridge and across two more bridges before finishing on Water Street with a 1/3 mile flat and fast run to the finish! You'll also have a short loop down Battleship Road where you'll run in front of the Battleship USS North Carolina and take in the view of downtown Wilmington across the Cape Fear River - very picturesque. Swim CB is now part of the Carolina Swim Series! The Carolina Swim Series consists of five open water swims in the greater Wilmington area. There are two swims in the spring, one in the middle of summer, and then two more in the fall. SWIM CB is an ocean swim at Carolina Beach, NC. The race will finish at the Carolina Beach boardwalk. Friendly, knowledgeable volunteers stationed throughout the ship engage visitors in specific subjects and areas including: gunnery, radar, sick bay, galley, engineering, and daily shipboard life. Try on helmets, raise signal flags, “text” using semaphore flags, tap out your name using Morse code, type on vintage typewriters and more!
