YMCA Wrightsville Beach Sprint Triathlon
September 29, 2018
This race starts out with a 1,350 yard swim - which is unusual for a sprint distance triathlon. The reason the swim is longer than the normal sprint distance swim is because the swim is a point-to-point swim that always takes place with an incoming tide. The bike course is flat (not a surprise) as the race is at the coast. The one loop course takes participants over the Wrightsville Beach drawbridge and onto the mainland. The 5K run course is a one-loop design and also flat. The run takes place on the very popular "loop" at Wrightsville Beach with 90% of the run being on the sidewalk system - the other 10% is on a very quiet side street. Paranormal Ghost Tours at Poplar Grove
October 5, 12, 19 & 26, 2018
In addition to our full moon and new moon paranormal evenings, for four weekends in October, Poplar Grove is presenting an evening to per chance be visited by the spirits of Poplar Grove. Haunts, or haints, of all ages from 1850 through the 20th century continue to hover in and around the Manor House, Tenant House, graveyard and grounds. There are lots of true stories of Foy family household haints to share, including a murderous crime of passion. Come discover who these phantoms are, and why they’re still here. We will share a little history with you, provide a Scroll of the Dead, and permit you to focus on a particular room or rooms for paranormal activity. There are some wickedly dangerous Ghost apps for your phone, so prepare & download before you come! Click here for additional information.
